NYC FOODIE SANDWICH SHOP OF THE WEEK: N0. 7 SUB
The gourmet sandwich craze is full on here in NYC. This is a good thing though, especially for me; I love a great sandwich! No. 7 Sub, which originated in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, now has an outpost at The Ace Hotel, on 29th and Broadway-one of the hippest corners in town!
This past Friday I stopped into a packed house (they only do take-out) and ordered the braised lamb ($9) with peanut butter, mint jelly, romaine, and pappadam. A combination of ingredients you would never imagine together, but chef Tyler Kord is an absolute genius, for the sandwich was amazing! A complete masterpiece. I also had the "Route 11 Chesapeake Crab" potato chips ($2.50) and a house-made hibiscus ginger ale ($3), which was fabulous! I cannot wait to go back this week and try another sub from No. 7. This place rocks!

NYC FOODIE CHINATOWN RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK: NOM WAH TEA PARLOR
The Nom Wah Tea Parlor, "the first dim sum restaurant in Chinatown since 1920", got a minor facelift recently, and I went to check it out last week. I had never been there before and walked in to what appeared to be a diner. There were more caucasians than Chinese in the place, which would normally scare me, but luckily this dim sum diner turns out some really good dim sum!
Shrimp rice roll ($3.50) were fabulous.
Chao Zhou style dumplings ($2.50) were delicious.
Shrimp Sui Mai ($3.50) were excellent.
Scallion pancake ($3.50) was fine.
Sticky rice with Chinese sausage ($4.50) was tasty.
Shanghainese style soup buns ($3.50) were great.
So for good dim sum, with a diner vibe, Nom Wah Tea Parlor hits the spot, no matter what race you are.
