NoHo Hospitality, the team behind Locanda Verde, The Dutch, and Lafayette, has added a casual "Pasta Shop" to their empire called Bar Primi. What used to be Peels on 2nd and Bowery, is now this two floored joint serving good wine and tasty Italian fare. I stopped in twice already and had some delectable bites.
You can start with a refreshing seafood antipasta ($12), or some mussels calabrese ($12). But the starter not to be missed and got me really excited is Bar Primi's stuffed meatballs in sugo ($12). These balls come with a surprise inside-fontina cheese. I love these balls. Balls of joy.
Of course, what's a "Pasta Shop" without pasta. The pasta I tried was solidly executed and delicious. Spinach cavatelli ($17) comes with veal biano, and piave cheese. Spaghetti clams casino ($19) is tasty as can be, I just wish it came with more than two clams.
One dish not be skipped at Bar Primi, is not a pasta dish, but their sandwich. The roast beef sandwich ($14) comes with Italian peppers, arugula, and provolone. And, it's #FuckingAwesome. Perfection. Magical. Order it. I'll join you.
Good wine, good pasta, and a fucking awesome sandwich on the Bowery? Yes, please. See you there soon. A magical night awaits.
