NYC FOODIE QUICK BITE: THE RED CAT

Have you been to The Red Cat recently? This west Chelsea restaurant which has been around for years, got a new chef a few months ago, who is turning out amazing fare. I stopped in for lunch recently and was blown away. I can see why this restaurant is a NYC institution.

As you sit down, put an order in for the Light Tempura of Green Beans ($12), served with a sweet hot mustard. It's the perfect snack to nibble on while you await your meal. An instant classic.

Swiss Chard Ravioli with brown butter crumble and pine nuts blew me away. It's an amazing dish.

Shmaltz Fried Eggs ($16), with potato pancake, brisket, spinah, and maple jus is #fuckingawesome. #yesplease

Of course, you gotta have a good burger nowadays, and The Red Cat's does not disappoint. In fact, it's fabulous. Titled, "Tasty Burger" ($17) on the menu, and served with gruyere, bacon, pickled onions, on seeded sourdough, it sure is tasty.

If you prefer something on the lighter side, try the Quick Sautee of Zucchini ($12), with toasted almonds and pecorino. It's light, refreshing, and delicious. But then do order any of the Red Cat's desserts right after, to complete your magical meal.
