NYC FOODIE QUICK BITE: HWA YUAN

February 19, 2018 Josh Beckerman

One of the best restaurants in Chinatown is called Hwa Yuan. It's been open since 1968, but has been redone. It's def. one of the more fancier restaurants in Chinatown, but it's also wonderful. The three dishes I tried for lunch recently all blew me away. They are famous for their cold sesame noodles, and you need to order them. #Perfection. They were out of soup dumplings when I was there, but that was ok, because I tried their pan fried pork dumplings, which were quite excellent. And don't skip their whole fish with hot bean sauce. That sauce hits all the right notes, spicy, tangy, sweet, wonderful. I would take a bath in that sauce. So if you are looking for amazing Chinese in Chinatown, head over to East Broadway and Hwa Yuan, a magical culinary adventure awaits.
