NYC FOODIE DISH OF THE WEEK: WONTON SOUP FROM WU'S WONTON KING

May 15, 2017 Josh Beckerman

Everyone loves wonton soup. But have you ever had a wonton soup that was actually magical? I had heard about Wu's Wonton King, located on East Broadway, on the LES/Chinatown border, from various food insiders, and I heard that David Chang and Mario Batali were fans. That's all I needed to get my stomach there.

It actually says "NY's #1 Wonton Soup" on the menu. And you know what? It is. After one sip of that soothing broth I was in love. #foodisbae The wonton soup at Wu's has a more cloudy color than the clear, watery color of most wonton soups I've consumed in my life. It's a deeper, richer broth, with three different types of dumplings. It's really a bowl of magic. And you are going to love it.

PS. They have other great dishes at Wu's, like Roast Duck, and roast pig.
