The new East Village restaurant Babu Ji, which emigrated from Australia, all the way to Avenue B and 11th street is great! I stopped in last week and loved my meal. Everything was delicious. I recommend choosing their $40 tasting menu, where chef Jessi Singh sends out some magical bites, like a beautiful Yogurt Kebab, hung yoghurt croquette spiced with ginger and green chili, and a beetroot ginger sauce. Or their butter chicken, a free range chicken marinated in yoghurt, ginger, garlic, tomato, and fenugreek. The coconut curry, that a scallop sat in, was addictive, soothing, amazing, and truly magical. Babu Ji means "Mayor of the Block", and Babu Ji is a welcome addition the the East Village. A great neighborhood joint, welcoming, friendly, and delicious. Grab a beer from their beer fridge, sit back, and have some delectable Indian fare. See you there, neighbor.
