NYC FOODIE OPENING OF THE WEEK: WASSAIL

June 23, 2015 Josh Beckerman

Wassail is a new cider bar and restaurant in the Lower East Side, with a vegetable focused menu. I stopped in recently and loved every bite.

Jalapeño fritters with aged gouda, fried pastie with spinach and English cheddar, and "Scotch Eggs" with polenta and parmesan are three delectable snacks. Just be careful, those fritters are addictive.

Morels come with Spring onion, ramps, and pine nuts. It's incredible.

Slow cooked egg comes with broccolini, onion brioche, and sorrel hollandaise. It's wonderful.

Desserts at Wassail are unique and whimsical. Like their Frozen Spruce Souffle with pistachio and yogurt granita. A sweet journey to a forest, in your mouth.
