Have you heard of Bara yet? It's a new restaurant that opened recently on 1st Street between 1st Ave and Second Ave. The space used to be called Prima, the chef is named Ian Alvarez, and you need to know about this restaurant. Why? Because it's #Awesome! It's another gem to open up in the East Village, NYC. The cooking being done here is great. The price point is amazing. I had my first meal there last night, and need to go back. Bara is a true find. The flavors of the dishes work well, some are unique, some are ingenious, all are delicious.
Mackerel Tataki comes with horseradish and ponzu. Is that trout roe on top? You bet. All the chefs are topping their dishes with trout roe nowadays, and that makes me happy. I love trout roe. I love this dish. It is #perfection.
Oysters come with kimchi water. Yup. Refreshing, and wonderful.
Duck meatballs come with an addictive and magical miso mustard. One of the #best pork belly dishes you'll have this year is being served at Bara as well. Crispy, amazing, deliciousness. #yesplease
A special of glazed turnips in a lobster saffron broth, with dehydrated apples was genius and beyond #magical. True #turnipporn.
For your entree, you might go with the succulent flatiron steak with broccoli rabe. Or if noodles tickle your fancy, try the buckwheat noodles with short rib and prawn. But the entree that I loved the most was a special of whole Black Bass. True artistry. True Perfection. All Magic.
For dessert, end with a red bean macaron..It's one heavenly bite.
