Danny Meyer, and chef Nick Anderer, the team behind the great Maialino, have opened up an Italian pizza joint in the new Martha Washington Hotel on East 29th St. I stopped in last week and had a delectable meal.
The space is really bright with high ceilings, and basically in the hotel lobby. No worries though, the food is tasty enough, if the space doesn't tickle your fancy.
Rabbit meatballs, black olives, and ricotta are delicious!
Octopus salad is great. Perfectly tender octopus for all you pulpo lovers out there.
Fritto Misto is fried seafood #perfection. Light and crispy.
The main attraction at Marta is of course the pizza. We tried the Patate Alla Gricia, potatoes, guanciale, black pepper, and pecorino. It was wonderful. That fresh black pepper really elevated the pie. Truly delicious.
For dessert, you're going to want to try the Ice Cream Panino, salted chocolate biscotto, pistachios, and smoked mascarpone gelato. It is a work of art. #Wonderful. #Magical.
