NYC FOODIE QUICK BITE: UNION BAR AND KITCHEN

August 1, 2014 Josh Beckerman

Over there in West Soho there is a solid neighborhood joint serving New American fare with nods to Mexico, Japan and France. It's called Union Bar and Kitchen, and it's the perfect place if you are in the neighborhood to stop in for a drink and nibble on some delectable bites from Chef  Jonathan Renert. It's a welcoming destination. I stopped in for lunch last week and enjoyed it immensely.

Panko Fried Oysters are served on the half shell over house made tartar sauce, topped with chili infused tonkatsu sauce, and chopped chives. They are great. Order them.

The Morning After Sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I'v eaten. Another nod to Japan. it's panko crusted pork cutlet, pickled ginger, fried egg, provolone cheese, with some more of that tonkatsu sauce. #Awesome #Perfection I loved it!

Skip their sirloin burger and head straight to dessert. Their peanut crunch chimichangas and banana chocolate empanadas are sublime. #Yesplease

Union Bar and Kitchen has got that great neighborhood vibe paired with good food. Meet you there.
