Great Jones Cafe has been opened since 1983. It's a cool, low-key spot on Great Jones Street. It's been around before Great Jones was the cool street it is now. It took me 30 years to get to this joint, but I finally made it last month, to what I would say is a NYC institution. 30 years in the NYC Restaurant industry? That is amazing. Truly Magical. They have a New Orleans/Cajun inspired menu, and if you stop in for brunch, like I did on my visit, you'll fine one of the great brunch deals in town. For $12.95, you get any dish, plus your choice of cornbread or biscuit, and home fries or grits. Brunch also includes coffee, tea, or juice. This is a great bang for your buck. Oh, and the food is great too. My eggs jambalaya came with smoked sausage, tomato, onions, rice, and cajun spices. Paired with a side of grits, and I was whisked away to New Orleans. A wonderful brunch, in a NYC institution. Drop on by, eat well, and be cool.
