NYC FOODIE CHINATOWN RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK: THAI SON

In a recent NY Times article about yours truly, the Foodie Magician, the beautiful restaurateur Marisa May was quoted saying her favorite restaurant in NYC is the Chinatown Vietnamese restaurant Thai Son (the Foodie Magician, had read Miss May's mind, and nailed what she was thinking!). I felt compelled to check this place out, which I did recently.

Chinatown is filled with plenty of Vietnamese treasures, and Thai Son is pretty good.

Skip the spring rolls here ($5.75), the ones I had were not that good; dry and flavorless. (I will say that I came close to closing time, which might have affected quality of cooking).

Instead, try the grilled beef with sate sauce and onions ($9.50). It was juicy, delicious, and wonderful. The grill flavor was lovely, and it was a great dish.

Another day, another Chinatown treasure. For the sheer number of restaurants, and great bangs for your buck, Chinatown is the best area to eat in NYC.
