I love great sandwiches. One of my favorite things to do for lunch is to sit back and enjoy a truly fabulous sandwich. Well, if you haven't been to City Sandwich in Hell's Kitchen, you should. They serve some amazing and perfect sandwiches. There is a large Portuguese influence on these babies, which is unique to New York, thanks to Chef Michael Guerrieri. I've had multiple sandwiches here, including two fabulous ones on my most recent visit.
The "Dave" Sandwich ($9.95), fresh sausage, broccoli rabe, tomato, peperoncino, melted mozzarella, garlic, and olive oil, is excellent. Served on beautiful light and crispy hero bread, this sandwich truly hits the spot.
When was the last time you saw a sandwich with octopus salad on it? I hadn't til I laid my eyes on the "Fatima" ($11.95), Portuguese octopus salad, diced onions, diced peppers, arugula, fresh parsley, mustard-vinegar, and olive oil. Delicious.
So for fabulous sandwiches, with a taste of Portugal, City Sandwich hits the spot. Get your sandwich on.
