The macaron is the new cupcake. It has been gaining some momentum as of late. One new spot to open recently specializing in this "sweet meringue-based confectionery" is Macaron Parlour on St. Marks in the East Village. I stopped by their opening soiree and loved everything I had. You will find a variety of tantalizing flavors, including the awesome candied bacon with maple cream cheese. Enough said. Also, you should know that this patisserie specializing in macarons also has what could be the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. A touch of fleur del sel took it to another level, a level of pure genius and awesomeness! Quench your thirst with a refreshing raspberry lemonade, and you too will see why this new East Village joint is wonderful. Only problem is, it is very close to my apartment, which might effect my calorie intake. Oops. Well, you only live once a lifetime, so why not? Macaron Parlour hits the spot.
