Chef Justin Smillie and Stephen Starr have morphed Manzanilla into Upland, a delicious California-inspired restaurant in a gorgeous space. It is one of the best restaurants to open up all year.
White truffle soft scramble farm egg with chives and olive oil will satisfy all you white truffle addicts. Get it while it's still in season. One of the best pastas I've had all year (and I've had a lot) is Upland's Estrela pasta with chicken liver, sherry, rosemary, and sage. It's delicious. For all you chicken lovers out there, Upland's free range half chicken with mustard braised beans and late harvest tomatoes, is up there with NYC's best. #Wonderful. End with a cheesecake brulee, sheep's milk, kaffir lime leaf, and cranberry, and your magical meal at one of 2014's best new restaurants will be complete.
