The Foodie Magician's signature trick, is guessing people's favorite restaurants. A restaurant that comes up often, especially with the Upper East Side crowd, is the old school Italian joint, Elio's. I stopped in two weeks ago to see what everyone was loving. One step in, and I could feel that old school Italian vibe. Classic. Packed with Upper East Siders chowing down on Italian favorites, would the food live up to the hype? Yes. Elio's is a great old school Italian restaurant, from vibe and service, to the food, it truly is an UES and NYC institution.
Mozzarella di Bufula ($18) with tomatoes and roasted peppers, was solid as can be.
Stuffed mushrooms were tasty.
Spaghetti frutti de mare ($28) was just how you expect it should be in a joint like this. Classic Perfection.
The fish of the day was striped bass, and came with calamari on it, and a white wine sauce. And you know what? It was wonderful.
End with that old school Italian classic Tiramisu, and you'll be one happy diner. It's absolutely superb.
