I remember loving chef Chris Cipollone's food at that midtown restaurant Tenpenny. Tenpenny was hindered by it's location, in the back of a random hotel on 46th Street called the Gotham Hotel. Now Chris is back, this time on beautiful Hudson Street in the West Village, a much better place to showcase his talents. The restaurant is Piora, and it is Great!
Refresh your palate with an amuse of watermelon, then try Chef Cippolone's excellent Market Vegetable dish ($16) with thousand island. It's one of the most unique salad preparations you will encounter, earthy and artistic, and delicious.
Scallops ($16) come with sweet corn, chanterelle, and crispy chicken skin. Superb.
Egg ($12) comes with boneless chicken wing, potato, and artichoke barigoule, and is also quite awesome.
Bucatini ($26) is served with black garlic, Dungeness crab, and chili, and is wonderful.
Ocean trout ($31) with cauliflower, pear, and nduja, is both sweet and has a great kick, and is truly fabulous.
End with a scoop of bourbon ice cream, and all is well in the World.
