When I first heard about Willow Road, a restaurant on 16th and 10th ave, in the old John Dory space, I thought nothing of it. In fact, I didn't even really desire to stop by. Not sure why. Well, that was a mistake, because chef Todd Macdonald is turning out some delicious and fabulous seasonal fare there. He is "reinventing the American classic, by crafting a menu that so gracefully blends together comfort food with global flavors and technique."
On my most recent visit I was wowed with my meal. Take this Scallop Crudo: white peach, crispy corn, espelette. A perfect harmony of Summer flavors in my mouth. Both sweet with a little kick, this dish was true perfection. I loved it.
Pan Seared Cod came with sweet corn puree, chorizo romesco, and baby herbs. It was delicious and wonderful.
A side of braised garlic kale with parmesan and chili flakes, surely hit the spot too.
Also, on a previous visit I tried Willow Road's take on mac and cheese. It was a unique take, with ramps, lemon, fennel pollen, and parsley. Was less cheesy, and had a touch of white wine in it. And you know what? I loved it. Sensational.
So stop by Willow Road for some delectable seasonal flavors and bites!
