NYC FOODIE BROOKLYN RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK: SOCO

Great southern fused cuisine awaits you in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn at SoCo. I stopped in last month and had a fabulous meal.

Crawfish dumplings ($10) with green curry coconut milk, sweet potatoes, corn, and tomatoes was a fine starter. Great flavor and juicy crawfish always does a body good.

The SoCo baby back ribs ($6) with Asian BBQ sauce are truly amazing. Succulent goodness with a sauce that is perfection. Both sweet and spicy, not overpowering, but just right. These ribs had me moaning for more. These alone are worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Lobster, shrimp, and grits ($22) was also fantastic. Served in a spicy tomato broth on top of creamy white cheddar grits, this dish was addictive. I'm not a huge grits eater, but this was the best I've had.

Buttermilk fried chicken ($16) came on top of a red velvet waffle, and was really good. The chicken had great crunch and flavor, the red velvet waffle a unique touch. Add a touch of bourbon maple syrup to kick this dish up a notch, and you're in for quite the night.
