NYC FOODIE LOUNGE OF THE WEEK: THE HURRICANE CLUB

I dropped by for drinks and a bite at The Hurricane Club a few weeks ago, the new Tiki-themed restaurant on Park Avenue South and 26th Street. The place is huge and gorgeous, but I think of this place more as a lounge to get your South Pacific cocktailing on, as opposed to a restaurant with really good drinks. The food is ok, but not mind-blowing. You can order a Pu Pu platter ($15 per order) like I did, which is good for sharing. The one dish of the platters worth eating is the coconut shrimp, they are great-everything else was just mediocre. The house wings ($19) are loaded with flavor, but they were a bit too tangy, and not memorable. I do recommend this place for drinks, because the setting is fabulous, and the drinks will put a smile on your face!
