NYC FOODIE CHINATOWN RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK: JOE'S SHANGHAI

I went to Joe's Shanghai last week. Twice. It was my first time there. I had heard a lot about the place, and their magical pork soup dumplings, and was never sure if all the hype was warranted. Well my friends, it is. Joe's Shanghai serves the best soup dumplings in town. Joe's Shanghai is one of the best restaurants in Chinatown too.

My first trip I went solo, and sat at a communal round table. The dumplings here are so popular, they have a waiter to just take dumpling orders. Order them ($4.65 for 8!!!)! The broth is not too hot, flavorful, soothing, and wonderful! Add a little of the vinegar sauce too, for that extra tang!

Crispy pepper skin duckling was also awesome! Crispy skin, tender meat, finger licking good! This duck made me quack with joy.

After this fabulous meal, I could not get Joe's out of my mind, so had to go a few days later and try their cold sesame noodles ($4.65). Why? Because these are also some of the best sesame noodles in town. They were addictively amazing!

A vegetable dish of spinach was fine, the addition of garlic was really nice.

So, for one of the best restaurants in Chinatown, hit up Joe's Shanghai. Order the pork soup dumplings, the cold noodles with sesame sauce, and thank me later. Joe's, you complete me.
