I am like the Jacques Cousteau of NYC Restaurants, especially Chinatown. Chinatown is my sea, and I am trying to discover all those hidden gems. I found one this afternoon at A Wah Restaurant Corp, a small spot, my Chinatown foodie friend and I stumbled upon randomly.
The waitress recommended some steamed Chinese vegetables ($4.95), as well as pan fried noodles with chicken, ham, and pork ($7.95).
The vegetables (choy sum) were perfectly cooked, and the sauce had just the right amount of saltiness and tang. They were fantastic!
The pan fried noodles were fine, yet a tad bland. This would not stop me from coming back though.
As a lover of dumplings, we had to order the pan fried shrimp and chive dumplings ($2.95). After one bit of these crunchy and tasty little morsels, my first comment out loud was, "These are fucking fantastic!" They were really fabulous.
When the total bill arrived, and I saw it say $19, which included two sodas and tax, I could not help but smile and giggle. A great bang for your buck, for sure. I will definitely go back and try some more of their menu. A Wah, you made my day.
