NYC FOODIE CULINARY TRIP OF THE WEEK: MIAMI

I was entertaining down in Miami for Super Bowl Weekend, and went on a few notable culinary adventures. My first stop was dinner at Michael's Genuine Food and Drink. This restaurant is Awesome! Located in Miami's design district, it is casual and cool, with truly wonderful food.

A side of crispy hominy ($5) was addictively good.

Local golden tilefish and cobia ceviche ($10) with papaya, avocado, and citrus was superb.

Wood roasted double yolk farm egg ($8) with cave aged gruyere, roasted tomato, chives, and sourdough crostini was mind-blowing!

Crispy sweet and spicy pork belly ($15) with kimchi, crushed peanuts, and swank farm pea shoots, had great flavor and texture combinations.

The popcorn and peanuts dessert ($9) with chocolate peanut butter candy bar, and buttered popcorn ice cream was ingenious, playful, and wonderful!

Michael's is now one of my favorite restaurants in all of America-worth the trip!

A burger at Maxine's Bar and Bistro in South Beach was surprisingly excellent and great! Didn't think of Miami having a great burger, but this one was fabulous!

My last meal in Miami came at Sra. Martinez, Chef Michelle Bernstein's Spanish tapas follow-up to her famed Michy's. It, too, was a fantastic restaurant. I took advantage of their $22 pre-fixe lunch special, which was a great deal.

Roasted piquillo peppers, slow roasted and in extra virgin olive oil was simple and lovely.

Bacon wrapped medjool dates, with Valdeon blue cheese and marcona almonds were orgasmic!

Grilled skirt steak with churrasco, rosemary scented fries, and chimichurri was delicious.

Chef Bernstein's "Flan de Mama" with sherry and fresh cream, was not only orgasmic and amazing, it was the BEST flan I have ever eaten!

Miami is known for their sexy beaches, hot nightlife, and hot people, but the food down there is pretty darn hot too!
